§ 17069 Owner Animal Reclaim Costs

• •You must prove you own the animal to the director.
• •All expenses incurred while the animal was being handled must be paid.
• •After payment, the animal is returned to the owner.

A stray dog is picked up by animal control. The person who owns the dog shows the director paperwork proving the dog is theirs.

Because the owner proved ownership, the director will give the dog back once the owner pays the fees for things like transport, food, and veterinary care that were needed while the dog was in custody.
