§ 14021 Pesticide Toxic Air Contaminants

• •A “toxic air contaminant” is any air pollutant that can cause death, serious illness, or a health danger.
• •Pesticides that the federal law calls hazardous air pollutants are automatically treated as toxic air contaminants by the state director.

A farmer uses a pesticide that the federal government has called a hazardous air pollutant.

Because the pesticide is listed as a hazardous air pollutant, the state director will label it a toxic air contaminant, meaning it could cause deaths or serious illnesses if it gets into the air.
