§ 12995 Pesticide Registration Requirements

This law says you can't have or use any pesticide unless it is officially registered, and you can't use one whose registration has been put on hold, unless a special rule or notice says otherwise.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only use pesticides that have been officially registered.
  • •Do not use pesticides whose registration has been suspended.
  • •You may only break these rules if a director’s regulation or a specific notice says you can.

Example

A homeowner sprays a new weed‑killer they bought online that hasn't been approved by the state.

Because the weed‑killer isn’t registered, the homeowner is breaking the law and could be fined unless the director has issued a special permission.
