§ 11891 Misdemeanor Penalties

This law says if you break this rule or any related regulation, you can be charged with a misdemeanor and may have to pay a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, go to jail for 10 days to 6 months, or both.

Key Takeaways

  • •Breaking the rule is a misdemeanor.
  • •Punishment can be a fine ($5,000‑$50,000), jail (10 days‑6 months), or both.
  • •Each separate violation is treated as its own crime.

Example

A business owner ignores a new safety regulation and keeps operating the shop the same way.

Because the owner broke the regulation, the law says they can be fined (for example, $12,000) and could also be sentenced to jail (for example, 20 days). Each time they break a rule, it counts as a new offense.
