§ 10407 Bovine Indemnity Payment Conditions

This law says you won’t get any more money (indemnity) if you haven’t followed all the rules for every cow you add to your herd or if your farm isn’t kept clean enough for the USDA or the state department.

Key Takeaways

  • •You must follow every rule in the chapter for each new cow you add.
  • •Your farm must stay clean enough to satisfy the state department or USDA.
  • •If either of those things isn’t done, you won’t get any further indemnity payments.

Example

A farmer buys a new calf, but he never files the required paperwork for that animal. Later he asks for another payment because his herd got sick.

Because he didn’t follow the rules for the new cow, the law stops the extra payment from being given to him.
