§ 10103 Tuberculosis Cattle Movement Permits

This law lets the State Veterinarian give a special permit so cattle that have been exposed to tuberculosis can be moved to certain safe places.

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Veterinarian can issue a permit for moving TB‑exposed cattle.
  • •Allowed places include inspected slaughter facilities, places that already keep exposed cattle, or any site where the disease can’t spread.
  • •The permit is only for moving cattle that might spread tuberculosis.

Example

A farmer has a cow that tested positive for tuberculosis exposure and wants to send it to a slaughter plant that has federal meat inspection.

The farmer can ask the State Veterinarian for a special permit, and the cow can be moved to that slaughter plant because it meets one of the allowed destinations.
