§ 1320 Community Historical Reputation Evidence

Key Takeaways

  • •People can talk about what everyone in town knows happened, even if they didn’t see it themselves.
  • •This only works for big events that mattered to the whole town, state, or country.
  • •It’s not just gossip—it has to be something important that lots of people know about.

Example

A small town is trying to prove that a big flood happened 50 years ago.

Even if no one in court saw the flood, people can say, 'Everyone in town knows about the flood—it was a huge deal!' because it’s part of the town’s history.
