§ 9323 Initiative Ordinance Amendment Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •If people vote to make a new rule, the government can't change or cancel it unless the people vote again.
  • •The new rule is just as strong as any other rule made by the government.
  • •The only way to change the rule without a vote is if the original rule says it's okay.

Example

A town votes to make a rule that all dogs must be on a leash in parks.

The town government can't change this rule unless the people vote again. If they want to allow dogs off-leash in some parks, they need another vote. The leash rule is as important as any other town rule.
