§ 9101 County Initiative Petition Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •People can suggest a new rule (ordinance) for their county by getting enough signatures on a petition.
  • •The petition must follow specific rules, like including the full text of the new rule.
  • •The petition must be given to the county elections official.

Example

A group of people want a new rule in their county, like banning plastic bags in stores.

They write down the rule and get enough signatures from voters. Then they give the petition to the county elections office. If they follow all the rules, the county will consider their new rule.
