§ 6721 Peace And Freedom Ballot Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •The Secretary of State must send a letter to the leaders of the Peace and Freedom Party 120 days before a presidential primary election.
  • •The letter tells them they can send information about who they want on their party's ballot, but they don't have to respond.
  • •The Secretary of State will look at any information they send to decide who goes on the Peace and Freedom Party's ballot.

Example

Imagine it's almost time for people to vote in a big election to pick the president. The Peace and Freedom Party is a smaller political group.

The government sends a letter to the leaders of this party four months before the election. The letter says, 'You can tell us who you want on your ballot, but you don’t have to. If you do, we’ll use that info to decide.'
