§ 6102 Presidential Primary Delegation Selection

Key Takeaways

  • •If you want to run for president in the primary election, you need to get enough voters to sign your nomination papers.
  • •Once you have the right number of signatures, your name can be put on the ballot for people to vote for.
  • •This rule helps make sure only serious candidates get on the ballot.

Example

Imagine you want to run for class president, but first, you need 20 of your classmates to sign a paper saying they support you.

If you get those 20 signatures, your name goes on the ballot, and everyone in class can vote for you. This law works the same way but for the presidential primary election.
