§ 2205 Voter Registration Death Updates

Key Takeaways

  • •When someone 16 or older dies, the local office that records births and deaths must tell the county elections office by the 15th of every month.
  • •They must share details like the person's name, age, where they lived, and when they died.
  • •The elections office will then remove the dead person's name from the voter list.

Example

A 20-year-old person passes away in a car accident.

The local office records the death and sends the details to the elections office by the 15th of the next month. The elections office then removes the person's name from the voter list so no one can vote in their name.
