§ 21620 Charter City District Elections

Key Takeaways

  • •This rule is for cities that pick their leaders by areas (like neighborhoods).
  • •The city must follow special rules if they choose leaders this way.
  • •The rules are for cities that are 'charter cities' (they have their own local rules).

Example

A big city divides itself into 5 areas, and each area picks one leader.

This law says the city must follow extra rules because they pick leaders by areas instead of the whole city voting together.
