§ 2147 Online Voter Registration Process

• •By July 1, 2018, California State University and California Community Colleges must let students register to vote online when they sign up for classes.
• •Students can fill out a voter registration form on the Secretary of State's website while enrolling online.
• •The University of California is asked to do the same, but it's not required.

While enrolling, the student sees a link to register to vote. They click it, fill out the form on the Secretary of State's website, and submit it—all online. This makes it easy for students to register to vote while signing up for school.
