§ 19340 Precinct Board Training Requirement

This law says anyone on a precinct board who hasn't gone to a voting‑machine training class must take the class, unless they were put in the spot to fill an emergency vacancy.

Key Takeaways

  • •Board members need to complete voting‑machine training if they haven't done it before.
  • •The rule applies to all regular board members, not just new ones.
  • •If someone is appointed to fill an emergency vacancy, they are exempt from the training requirement.

Example

Maria is elected to her local precinct board and has never taken the voting‑machine training before.

Maria has to sign up for the training class before she can start her duties, but if she had been appointed just to replace someone who quit suddenly, she wouldn't have to take the class right away.
