§ 18301 Simulated Ballot Penalties

• •You can't print or cause to be printed a fake ballot or voter guide without the required statement.
• •You can't use an official seal or insignia on a fake ballot or guide unless the law says you can.
• •Doing either of those things is a misdemeanor, which can lead to penalties.

A person prints copies of a fake ballot for a city council election and puts the city seal on it, then hands them out to friends.

Because the fake ballot doesn't have the required statement and uses the city seal illegally, the person could be charged with a misdemeanor under this law.
