§ 15670 Presidential Delegate Candidate Rules

This law says it only applies to people running for certain party positions, like delegates to a national convention or candidates in a primary for most offices.

Key Takeaways

  • •The rule only covers candidates for delegates to a national convention for President and Vice President.
  • •It also covers candidates running in a direct primary for any office that isn’t non‑partisan or voter‑nominated.
  • •If you’re running for a non‑partisan or voter‑nominated office, this law does not apply.

Example

Jane wants to run for a delegate spot at her party’s national convention for the presidential nomination.

Because Jane is a candidate for a delegate to the national convention, this law applies to her. If she were running for a non‑partisan office, the law would not apply.
