§ 15623 Recount Request Expansion

• •You can request another recount only while the first recount is happening or within 24 hours after it ends.
• •Any voter, not just the original requester, can make the new request.
• •The new request must be for precincts that weren’t part of the original recount and must be for the same office, presidential electors, or measure.

A recount is being done for a state senate race and only precinct 12 was recounted. A voter sees that precinct 7 wasn’t included and, before the recount ends or within 24 hours after it ends, asks the election officials to recount precinct 7 too.

Because the voter asked while the original recount was still in progress (or within the 24‑hour window), the officials must do a new recount of precinct 7 for the same senate race.
