§ 13303 Voter Information Guide Mailing

This law says the elections office must print and mail a voter information guide to every registered voter at least 21 days before an election, and also must send polling place notices to all voters, including those who register late.

Key Takeaways

  • •The county must print at least one guide for every voter in each precinct.
  • •Guides must be mailed prepaid no later than 21 days before the election.
  • •All voters get a notice of their polling place; voters who register after the 29‑day deadline also get a notice with website info and where to get the guide.

Example

Maria registers to vote 40 days before the November election. The county elections office prints a guide with a copy of the ballot, labels it “county voter information guide,” and mails it to her by early October. The guide tells her which polling place to go to on Election Day.

Because Maria was registered more than 29 days before the election, she gets the mailed guide with the polling place notice as required by the law.
