§ 11002 Recall Elections Officials Defined

This rule tells us who counts as an "elections official" when a public official is being recalled.

Key Takeaways

  • •A county elections official runs recalls for county officers, school districts, county boards of education, community colleges, resident voting districts, and trial judges.
  • •A city elections official (like a city clerk) runs recalls for city officers.
  • •The secretary of the governing board runs recalls for landowner voting districts or any district that files nomination papers with that secretary.

Example

A county wants to recall a school board member.

The person in charge of running that recall vote is the county elections official, because the rule says a county elections official handles recalls for county school districts.
