§ 103 Petition Signature Withdrawal

This law lets people take back their signature from a petition if they change their mind, as long as they do it before the petition is officially filed.

Key Takeaways

  • •You can only remove your signature before the petition is officially filed.
  • •You must write a request with your name, address, and the petition’s name.
  • •Your request won’t count as a new petition.

Example

You signed a petition to recall a mayor, but later you decide you don’t want to support it anymore.

You can write a request to the elections office with your name, address, and the petition’s name to remove your signature before the petition is filed.
