§ 99000 Western Higher Education Compact

• •The Governor can make an agreement with 11 western states, Alaska, and Hawaii to work together on college education.
• •This agreement is called the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education.
• •If the state wants to leave this agreement, the Governor has to officially say so.

California, Oregon, and other western states want to make it easier for students to go to college in any of these states.

The Governor of California can sign an agreement with these states to work together on college stuff. If California later decides it doesn’t want to be part of this group anymore, the Governor has to send a notice to leave.
