§ 89902 Student Organization Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law does not apply to most student clubs, like fraternities, sororities, or alumni groups, unless they are specifically mentioned in another part of the law.
  • •The school can still make its own rules for any group that is officially connected to the school or uses the school’s name or buildings.
  • •The law gives the school the power to control groups that have an official relationship with the school.

Example

A fraternity on campus wants to host a big party.

Even though this law doesn’t directly apply to the fraternity, the school can still make rules about the party because the fraternity is officially connected to the school.
