§ 89757 Prohibited Discriminatory Organization Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •School money can't be used to join or pay for groups that treat people unfairly because of things like race, gender, or religion.
  • •This rule is for colleges and universities, not for student clubs.
  • •If the school pays a teacher or worker, that money is okay to use even if they join a group that isn’t fair.

Example

A college wants to pay for a teacher to join a club that doesn’t allow women.

The college can’t use its money to pay for this club because it treats people unfairly. But if the teacher uses their own salary to join, that’s allowed.
