§ 88052 Classified Employee Election Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If an election is successful, certain rules for classified employees start applying.
  • •These rules fully kick in once at least two members of the personnel commission are appointed.
  • •The commission must use the district's existing rules for classified employees until they make their own, as long as those rules don't break the law.

Example

A school district holds an election to decide if certain employees, like janitors or bus drivers, should follow new rules.

If the election passes, the new rules start applying to these employees. But the rules don't fully start until at least two people are appointed to the personnel commission. Until the commission makes its own rules, they use the old rules of the district, as long as those old rules don't break any laws.
