§ 87732 Employee Dismissal Grounds

Key Takeaways

  • •Teachers and school workers can only be fired for serious reasons like bad behavior, lying, or doing a bad job.
  • •They can also be fired if they break school rules, have a health problem that stops them from working, or commit a serious crime.
  • •The school must have a good reason to fire someone—they can’t just do it for no reason.

Example

A teacher keeps showing up late, doesn’t teach well, and ignores warnings to improve.

The school can fire the teacher because their bad performance and ignoring rules are valid reasons under the law.
