§ 81528 Leased School Structure Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a school rents a portable building for students to use for more than 3 years, it must follow special safety rules.
  • •Small trailer classrooms (under 16 feet wide) used for special classes (like driver training) don’t need to follow those same rules if they meet health and safety codes.
  • •The land where the rented building sits must be owned or controlled by the school district.

Example

A school rents a portable classroom for 4 years to teach math.

Since the classroom will be used for more than 3 years, it must follow extra safety rules to make sure it’s safe for students.
