§ 81454 Community College Property Disposal

Key Takeaways

  • •Community colleges can sell old stuff (like desks or computers) when they buy new things.
  • •The buyer of the new stuff must also agree to take away the old stuff and pay for it by lowering the price of the new items.
  • •The college picks the best deal—lowest price after subtracting the old stuff’s value—or says no to all offers.

Example

A community college wants to buy new computers and get rid of the old ones.

The college says, 'If you sell us new computers, you must also take our old ones and pay us by lowering the price of the new computers.' The college then picks the cheapest offer after this discount.
