§ 81390 Joint Use Property Agreements

Key Takeaways

  • •Community colleges can team up with private companies or people to share buildings or land.
  • •The shared buildings must follow local rules like zoning and building codes.
  • •The usual rules about selling school property don’t apply here, unless the building is only used for teaching.

Example

A community college lets a coffee shop open on campus.

The college and the coffee shop share the building, but the coffee shop must follow the city’s rules for restaurants. The college doesn’t have to follow the normal rules for selling school property because they’re sharing the space.
