§ 79021 Governor Holiday Closure Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •If the Governor picks a new holiday but doesn't say community colleges should close, but they close anyway, it counts as a holiday.
  • •The college's own leaders (governing board) get to decide if the closing is for a holiday.
  • •This rule is only for community colleges.

Example

The Governor says March 15 is a new holiday but doesn't tell community colleges to close. Your local community college closes anyway.

Even though the Governor didn’t say to close, the college closing counts as a holiday because the college’s leaders decided it.
