§ 76380 Free Noncredit Adult Classes

Key Takeaways

  • •Adults taking certain classes (like English, citizenship, or basic school subjects) at community college don’t have to pay extra fees if they don’t live in the area.
  • •This rule applies to classes for people without a high school diploma or special classes listed in other laws (Sections 8531-8534).
  • •The way they count how many students are in these classes follows rules set by the state board.

Example

Maria, who lives in a different city, wants to take a free English class at her local community college to learn citizenship.

Maria doesn’t have to pay extra fees for the class because the law says adults in these types of classes don’t pay nonresident tuition.
