§ 76233 Student Disciplinary Record Response

Key Takeaways

  • •If a college punishes a student, they must let the student add their side of the story to their record.
  • •The student can write their own explanation about what happened.
  • •The college can't stop the student from adding their statement.

Example

A student gets in trouble for being late to class too many times.

The college writes in the student's file that they were punished. The student can write their own note in the file, like saying they were late because their bus was always delayed.
