§ 76224 Instructor Grade Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •Teachers decide your grade in community college classes, and their decision is final unless they make a mistake, cheat, act unfairly, or don’t know what they’re doing.
  • •If you can’t wear the right gym clothes in PE class because of something you can’t control (like not having money to buy them), your grade can’t be lowered because of that.

Example

A student in a community college PE class forgets their gym clothes at home and gets a bad grade just for that.

The teacher can’t lower the student’s grade just because they didn’t wear the right clothes if it wasn’t their fault. The grade should be based on how well they did in the class, not their clothes.

(b) No grade of a student participating in a physical education class, however, may be adversely affected due to the fact that the student does not wear standardized physical education apparel where the failure to wear such apparel arises from circumstances beyond the control of the student.
