§ 76222 Student Record Access Log

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools must keep a list of who looks at or gets info from a student's records.
  • •Some people don't need to be on the list, like the student themselves or people the student said 'okay' to.
  • •Only the student, school officials, and some government people can check this list.
  • •This list helps make sure the school is following the rules about student records.

Example

If a college student wants to know who has seen their school records, they can ask the school.

The school must show the student a list of who looked at their records, except for certain people like the student themselves or someone the student allowed.
