§ 56070 Special Education Personnel Qualifications

Key Takeaways

  • •People who help kids with special needs at school must have the right training and certificates.
  • •Schools can't hire someone just because they need help fast—they must follow the rules.
  • •Helpers (like assistants) can work with kids if they are trained and watched by someone in charge.
  • •Schools must try hard to find and keep good people to help kids with special needs.

Example

A school needs a speech therapist for a child who has trouble talking.

The school must hire someone with the right license to be a speech therapist. They can't just pick anyone—they have to follow the rules. If they hire an assistant to help, that person must be trained and supervised by the therapist.
