§ 56059 Teacher Qualification Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •This law does not let parents or students sue a school or teacher just because a teacher isn’t 'highly qualified'.
  • •Parents can still complain to the state if they think a teacher isn’t qualified enough to teach their child.
  • •The complaint must follow the rules set by the state and federal government.

Example

A parent notices their child’s special education teacher doesn’t have the right training.

The parent can’t sue the school just because of this, but they can file a complaint with the state to check if the teacher meets the rules.
