§ 52501 Adult Education Authorization

• •School boards can create classes for adults, but they need approval from the education department.
• •These classes can teach many subjects, but not outdoor science or conservation classes.
• •The classes must follow the rules listed in another part of the law (Section 41976).

A local high school wants to offer a night class for adults to learn cooking.

The school board can set up this class, but they must get permission from the education department first. They can’t offer a class about camping or nature, though.
