§ 52072 School District Assistance Determination

Key Takeaways

  • •If a school district keeps struggling with certain groups of students for 3 out of 4 years, they might get extra help.
  • •The help is decided by a group called the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, who talks to the school and others to see what’s needed.
  • •The help focuses on making the school better at supporting students and the community.
  • •The main goal is to fix problems in a way that’s simple and works well for the school.

Example

A school district has low test scores for English learners, kids with disabilities, and low-income students for 3 years in a row.

The state group will check if the school needs help. If they do, the group will work with the school to make a plan to improve teaching and support for these students.
