§ 51927 Pupil Health Privacy Protection

Key Takeaways

  • •Kids don’t have to share their private health or mental health stuff at school.
  • •Even if they’re talking to other kids in class, they can keep their health info to themselves.
  • •This rule doesn’t take away any other privacy rights kids already have.

Example

A teacher asks a student to talk about their feelings in a class discussion about mental health.

The student can say 'no' and doesn’t have to share anything they don’t want to. Their privacy is protected.
