§ 51765 Work Experience Wages Disabled

(a) The governing board of a school district that establishes and supervises a work experience education program in which pupils with intellectual disabilities are employed in part-time jobs may use funds derived from any source, to the extent permissible by appropriate law or regulation, to pay the wages of pupils so employed. (b) The Legislature hereby finds and declares that the authority granted by this section is necessary to ensure that the work experience education program will continue to provide maximum educational benefit to pupils, particularly pupils with intellectual disabilities, and that the program is deemed to serve a public purpose. (Amended by Stats. 2012, Ch. 589, Sec. 12. (AB 2662) Effective January 1, 2013.)
