§ 51206 Elementary Physical Education Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •Kids in elementary school need to be physically active just like they need to learn math or reading.
  • •The state must hire a special teacher to help schools make good gym class plans for grades 1 to 8.
  • •This special teacher will also help train other teachers and give advice to schools.

Example

A school where kids only sit at desks all day and never play outside.

This law says that’s not okay—kids need to run, jump, and play too. The state has to hire someone to help schools make sure kids get good gym time.
