§ 45254 Personnel Commission Budget Determination

Key Takeaways

  • •The school's personnel commission and the school board work together to decide the budget for the first year.
  • •If they can't agree, the county superintendent steps in to decide the budget based on similar schools in the county.
  • •If there are no similar schools in the county, they use averages from similar schools across the state.
  • •The school board must provide the money for the personnel commission's work.

Example

Imagine the school's personnel commission wants $50,000 for their first year, but the school board thinks $30,000 is enough.

If they can't agree, the county superintendent will look at what other similar schools in the county spend on their personnel commissions. If the average is $40,000, that's what they'll use. If there are no similar schools in the county, they'll look at the average from similar schools all over the state.
