§ 44913 Summer School Employment Exclusion

Key Takeaways

  • •Working in summer school does not count toward becoming a permanent employee.
  • •Time spent teaching or working in summer school won't help you get a permanent job with the school district.
  • •This rule was already in place before this law was written—it’s just making it clear.

Example

A teacher works at a summer school for 3 years but wants a permanent job in the school district.

Even though the teacher worked for 3 summers, that time doesn’t count toward becoming a permanent employee. They still need to work during the regular school year to qualify.
