§ 44069 Business Manager Certification Exemption

Key Takeaways

  • •If you were a business manager in a school district on September 17, 1965, or March 4, 1972, and your job was said to need special certification, you keep that rule as long as you stay in the same job in the same district.
  • •After March 4, 1972, most school districts can't make business managers get special certification or credentials.
  • •Small school districts (with less than 3,000 students on average) can still require business managers to have special certification if they want.

Example

A person was working as a business manager in a small school district in 1970, and the school board said the job needed special certification. They still work there today.

Because this person was in the job before March 4, 1972, and the school board had already said the job needed certification, they still need to follow that rule. Also, since it's a small district, the school board can still require certification even now.
