§ 41378 Kindergarten Class Size Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools get money from the state for kindergarten classes.
  • •If a kindergarten class has more than 33 kids, the state counts how many extra kids there are.
  • •The state also checks if the average kindergarten class size in the whole school district is more than 31 kids.
  • •The state uses the bigger number from the two checks above to reduce the money the school gets.

Example

A school has a kindergarten class with 35 kids.

Since 35 is more than 33, the state counts 2 extra kids. If the average class size in the district is also more than 31, the state will use the bigger number to reduce the school's funding.
