§ 35532 School District Reorganization Steps

Key Takeaways

  • •When a school district is created or changed, the changes don't happen right away.
  • •The changes only start after a bunch of important steps are done, like figuring out the district's money, picking leaders, and hiring teachers.
  • •The district must also set up budgets, plan for elections about money (like taxes or bonds), and make sure they can spend money properly.
  • •Until all these steps are done, the old rules still apply.

Example

A small town votes to combine its two school districts into one bigger district.

The new bigger district won't start right after the vote. First, they have to do things like count how much money the new district has, pick new leaders for the school board, hire teachers for the next school year, and plan how to pay for new school buildings. Only after all that is done will the new district officially start.
