§ 35101 New District Board Elections

• •When a new school district is created, there's no temporary board. The county superintendent sets up an election to pick the first board members.
• •The election happens on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, June, or November, whichever comes first after the call.
• •The new board members start their jobs right after the election results are officially counted and confirmed.
• •The first board meeting is called by the county superintendent no later than the third Monday after the election.

A small town creates a new school district because it grew a lot.

The county superintendent will organize an election to choose the first school board members. The election will be on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, June, or November. Once the results are confirmed, the new board members start their jobs immediately. The first meeting will be within three weeks after the election.
