§ 27409 Spouse Annuity Information Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're not the person who has the retirement account but you get a share of it, you have to give some info to the people in charge.
  • •You need to tell them your birthday, your social security number, and anything else they ask for.
  • •You have to give this info in the way they want it, like filling out a form or sending a copy of your ID.

Example

Imagine you're married and your spouse has a retirement account. If you get divorced and the court says you get some of that retirement money,

you have to tell the retirement people your birthday and social security number so they know it's really you. If you don't, you might not get your money.
