§ 27008 Beneficiary Death Annuity Payments

Key Takeaways

  • •If the person getting money from a joint plan dies, the payments stop.
  • •If the person chose a single-life plan with no cash refund, payments stop when they die.
  • •If the person had a set-time plan and dies, the leftover money goes to their family or whoever they picked.

Example

Grandma gets monthly money from her late husband's work plan. She picked a plan that pays her for 10 years. She dies after 5 years.

The leftover 5 years of money will be given all at once to Grandma's family or the person she chose to get it.
