§ 24505 Benefit Payment Lawsuit Deadline

Key Takeaways

  • •If the board or its agent wants to take legal action, they have to start within 3 years.
  • •The 3-year countdown starts when the board approves paying benefits.
  • •If they wait too long, they can't take action anymore.

Example

Imagine you get hurt at work and the board approves your benefits on January 1, 2023.

The board has until January 1, 2026, to start any legal action related to your benefits. If they try to start after that, it's too late.
